Building Community Through Recreation: Reflections on 2024 and Dreams for 2025.
Recreation is more than just activities or facilities—it’s a gateway to personal growth, connection, and well-being for people of all ages. It’s an honor and a privilege to serve as the Recreation Manager for the City of Casper, a city that values the enrichment recreation brings to our residents.
When I think about the past year, I am overwhelmed with gratitude for the incredible team I have the privilege of working alongside. From aquatics to the ice arena, sports, athletics, the recreation center, and Fort Caspar Museum, every individual has contributed to our mission of creating a thriving environment for our community. Each day, my team and I strive to live out that mission—to cultivate opportunities for residents to learn, grow, and be their best selves.
Looking back at 2024, it’s remarkable to see how recreation has brought our community together. Whether it was through a child learning to swim at our aquatics center, families cheering on loved ones during tournaments run by the sports department, or residents enjoying a moment of history at Fort Caspar, I get to see first-hand how recreation has been at the heart of so many special moments. These moments are not just fleeting experiences; they are the foundation for strong families, healthier lifestyles, and a more connected community.
Municipal recreation plays a critical role in community growth and development. It provides safe spaces for play and connection, opportunities for personal and professional development, and programs that promote physical and mental well-being. Here in Casper, I truly believe our recreational services have helped build a stronger, more vibrant community where people of all backgrounds can thrive.
As we step into the new year, I’m filled with excitement for what’s to come. 2025 brings new opportunities to innovate, collaborate, and expand our programs to serve even more people in our community. We’re looking forward to enhancing our facilities, introducing new activities, and continuing to provide spaces where everyone can feel welcome and included.
None of this would be possible without the dedication and passion of the incredible staff who bring our programs to life. To my team in aquatics, ice arena, sports, athletics, the recreation center, and Fort Caspar Museum—thank you. Your hard work and commitment have not only made 2024 a success but have also laid the groundwork for an even brighter future.
